It’s CROCK POT SEASON
I Love the Crock Pot
Crock pot, slow cooker whatever you call it, it’s the most bomb cooking device because it allows you dump a bunch of food into it in the morning, press a button and then POOF you get to come home to dinner already made and it makes your house smell AMAZING!
I figured you probably like your crock pot as much as I do so you probably need a few easy healthy crockpot meals to get you through the winter. And that is where this round up comes in.
But first, let’s talk all things slow cooking.
How does a slow cooker work?
Slow cookers are basically just electric pots with stone inserts. Unlike your typical oven, slow cookers can cook food on low or high temperatures with consistently. They work by trapping heat and cooking food for a long period of time. This is why you should not remove the slow cooker lid while cooking as you will lose all that built up heat!
Crock Pot FAQs
Cooking food in your crock pot is pretty simple but there are definitely a few FAQs to answer
Is it safe to leave the crockpot on when I go out? YES! As long as there is nothing dangerous around the crock pot and you make sure it’s properly plugged in and the cord doesn’t look frayed in any parts, it’s safe to plug in.
How do I convert a low cooking time to high cooking time? It will vary based on the recipe, but a good rule of thumb is if a recipe calls for something to be cooked on low you can USUALLY cook it for half the time on high and vice versa!
What slow cooker should I buy? I personally love THIS one because it’s nice and big and I love that it automatically goes to the warming setting when it’s done cooking. AND I love that you can just set it to warm if you have something already cooked that just needs to be warm for, say, a potluck
