Gluten Free Slow Cooker Recipes EVERYONE will enjoy
When I’m lazing around and NOT feeling like cooking up an elaborate dinner for myself and Mr. FFF, I turn to my tried and true, trusty crockpot. It is a foolproof way to cook up a delicious and healthy meal in a pinch, and I know I can count on it doing 90% of the work for me! Today’s roundup of gluten free crock pot recipes is going to give you a list of new slow cooker recipes to put to the test! They are made with healthy ingredients and seasonings, are incredibly easy to throw together, and are SO tasty!
What is the difference between a Slow Cooker and an Instant Pot?
I love slow cookers. I love instant pots, too. That being said, they could not be more different! Instant pots use pressure to cook foods much faster than they would take if cooked conventionally, such as on the stovetop or in the oven. Slow Cookers, on the other hand, uses slow and controlled heat to cook foods slowly over a longer period of time. This can be really helpful on busy days, because you can start up the slow cooker before work and come home to an evenly cooked meal that you didn’t have to pay any attention to. The gluten free crockpot recipes in today’s roundup are the dump-and-let-it-cook-all-day type, which are SUPER easy but do take much longer to cook than instant pot recipes
Slow Cooker FAQ
When cooking up these gluten free crock pot meals, you really can cook them on high or on the low setting, depending on how much time you have. Both settings do stabilize at the same temperature, it just takes longer to reach the simmer point on low. In short, if your recipe takes 3 to 4 hours to cook on high, you’ll want to allow 7 to 8 hours if you want to cook it on low.
The same goes the opposite way around! If you want to speed up the cook time of any of these gluten free crock pot dinners, just set your slow cooker to the high setting and it should shave off 3-4 hours of cook time!
On this list of gluten free crock pot dinners, the average cook time on low is about 7-8 hours and the average cook time on high is 3-4 hours!
For most of the recipes in this list, there isn’t stirring required. Opening the lid to stir releases the heat and can actually slow down the cooking time. However, if a recipe does need to be stirred, the cook time on the recipe card will adjust to accommodate it!
There is very minimal evaporation when cooking a meal in your slow cooker. Keep in mind that the finished result will be thicker, and that you may need to add a bit of extra water at the end if using a recipe that you converted from a stovetop recipe.
What is the difference between a crock pot and a slow cooker?
I have always wondered this, so I did some research! “Crock-pot” is the name of a BRAND! It’s typically a stoneware pot surrounded by the heating element. A slow cooker is NOT a brand, it’s just the name of a type of cooking device. It’s a metal pot that sits on top of a heated surface.
Both can be interchangeable! It’s just important to note cooking times when looking at different gluten free crock pot recipes, as well as sizes of the cooking vessel used, as this can alter the cooking time in YOUR specific crock pot/slow cooker! I love my All Clad 7 quart slow cooker, which you can check out HERE.
How does a crock pot work?
Both slow cookers and crock-pots use moist heat to cook your dinner for a long period of time. They are WONDERFUL for developing flavor due to this long cooking time which is why you will love all these gluten free crockpot meals!
Slow cookers/crock pots also make VERY tender meats, due to that long cooking time, which you’ll find in many of these gluten free slow cooker recipes. Even the toughest meats can turn MAGICALLY moist and tender if you give ‘em a little slow cook!
How to Cook Chicken Thighs in the Slow Cooker
Mr. FFF LOVES slow cooked chicken thighs. However, he does NOT like chicken breast in the slow cooker – he thinks it’s nasty and dry. So, when I’m in a pinch I like to make a big batch of chicken thighs to send to school with him.
I’ve been making slow cooker chicken thighs without a recipe after I discovered how to do it on Epicurious!
You can use whatever sauce you like! Use salsa for Mexican night, or even get a little crazy and throw some curry sauce in there! Chicken thigh options are ENDLESS!

Ingredients
- 2 Lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
- Sea salt
- Pepper
- 2 Cups Sauce, Of choice
Instructions
- Season your chicken thighs well with salt and pepper and place into the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Pour the sauce over. Cover and cook until the chicken is tender, about 7 to 8 hours.
- Stir until the chicken is broken up and nice and saucy.
- DEVOUR as needed!
