Let the slow cooker do the work for you with these easy BBQ paleo chicken wings! A healthy, gluten, grain and dairy free, crowd pleasing appetizer!
“EEEEEEEEEEEEE!” I heard Mr. FFF scream.
So, naturally since I am a good-gold-star-wife and care about his well-being and thought he was DYING, I DROPPED EVERYTHING I WAS DOING (which, considering I use electric and hot gadgets for a living could have been VRY VRY DANGEROUS) and RAN into our bedroom.
He was doing a little “happy dance,” staring at his phone and then proceeded to yell “collage football rankings are UP.”
Liiiike. Really? I risked my life to learn this? I don’t even understand how tiny little men running around a screen, wearing WAY TOO MUCH padding, is even exciting and I almost DIED FOR IT?
Men. Can’t live with them. Can’t throw them in the trashcan.
KIDDING. LOVE YOU BABE.
Anyway. This event in my real-person-not-internet life is how I know that FOOTBALL SEASON IS HURRRR.
As you might have guessed by above annoyance about near-death-experience-for-no-reason, it’s not my most favorite season at all. I already basically don’t have a huberoni, due to being in school ALL THE TIME, so coupled with football?
Pretty much a single lady for the next few months guys. *musical note* All the single ladiesss *musical note*
Even if your hubs IS NOT in school, Imma guess that many of you other ladies out there are liiiike “AMEN INTERNET SISTAH GIIIIIRL.”
Also, that is how I imagine all of you speak. Just FYI.
How-EV-ER, there is one redeeming quality to this not-so-magical season of life that we are currently hut-hut-hutting (football reference – be PROUD) into:
SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACKS.
I told you in the crock pot buffalo chicken dip with cauliflower, the almond crusted chicken bites AND the Greek yogurt dip with kale and parmesan, and I’ll tell you again: it’s the ONLY thing that gets me through a boring Saturday night game night.
Oh and maybe a little Healthy BBQ Chicken Quinoa casserole to get something more SUBSTANTIAL in my belly.
Wiiiiiith a few blended lemon raspberry mojitos obvi. #TRUF.
As we discussed earlier, I am a VRY VRY good wife so I like to provide Mr. FFF with healthier treats to MUNCH on while he jumps around and yells at weird men run around his TV. One of his current fav things to put in his stressed-out-little-mouth are sticky slow cooker paleo whole chicken wings.
So, when my friend Natalie who runs the blog “Perry’s Plate” asked if I wanted to check out her new cookbook “The Big Book of Paleo Slow Cooking,” and share a recipe with you, I OBVI said yes.
I mean, 200+ nourishing recipes that are super easy AND where the crock pot does the work 4 YOU? Sign me up for ALL of them please!
Then, OBVI (the sequel) when I saw that she had these Easy BBQ Wings with a crazy addicting spicy-sweet-smoky dry rub, that were slathered in a totally-real-food-based, homemade BBQ sauce that is SO easy to make, I most DEFINITELY knew that these would be a home RUN with the hubs.
Or should I say TOUCHDOWNNN?!
I’m trying here.
You know what the other thing I’m thinking about trying is?
Hiding all the chicken wings until the next game day, sitting in the corner and seeing if Mr. FFF notices that I’m hogging them ALL to myself.

Ingredients

FOR THIS RECIPE, I RECOMMEND:
(per about 3 wings using only 1 1/2 cups sauce. Please note that this may not be exact as it’s hard to figure out exactly how much of the sauce/rub your use)

Hehe… I bet Mr. FFF would notice if you were hiding the wings. And I chuckled when you told the story about him being excited about football. I’m not a football gal, but I do love seeing other’s enthusiasm about it.

He gets SO into it. I don’t get it at all 😉 But I think he would notice too!
