Definitely not me. Today, I’m going to show you some of my favorite healthy crockpot chicken meals that will quickly make their way onto your dinner recipe rotation. Not only are the recipes in today’s roundup SO tasty, but they are also made with wholesome, healthy ingredients that you’ll feel good about serving to your family!
What can I cook in a crockpot?
Crockpots are such a great invention, because they are perfect for slowly cooking food to perfection! The best part about them is how EASY they are to use. In a crockpot, you can cook all of the healthy slow cooker chicken recipes I have for you today, and SO much more! In a crockpot, you can pretty much cook any type of meat or vegetable and the soups and sauces you can cook up in it are endless!
Is it better to cook chicken on high or low in a crockpot?
You can cook chicken breasts and thighs on either setting in your crockpot. A slow-cooked chicken breast on low for multiple hours will result in a very tender finished product, which can be great for shredding! This is how I recommend cooking your chicken in the crockpot. A chicken breast that is cooked on high for a shorter amount of time will also result in cooked chicken but will not be as tender.
How long does it take to cook chicken in a crockpot?
For many of these healthy chicken crockpot meals, the cook time on the chicken is similar. On your crockpot’s low setting, chicken usually takes 4-5 hours to cook in the crockpot. It can be fully cooked sooner than that, however the proteins may not be broken down enough to shred the chicken.
What to serve with Healthy Crockpot Chicken Recipes
So many recipes in this healthy crockpot roundup shine all on their own, as many of them are all-in-one meals! For the delicious sauces such as chicken curry recipes, I recommend hot rice to serve alongside it. Check out how to cook cauliflower rice if you’re looking for a lower carb rice option to suit your dietary preferences or needs. An easy veggie to serve on the side of a chicken dinner is instant pot green beans, so that’s another great option for a healthy side dish for any meal.
What cut of chicken is best for cooking in the Crockpot?
To know which cut of chicken would be best to cook in the crockpot, it really depends on the recipe you are following. Chicken breasts cook really well in so many crockpot recipes, and so do thighs. Thighs tend to be more tender and less dry, as they are a fattier cut of meat.
