This pretty little dish tastes as good as it looks, whether it’s for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.

One of my favorite snacks of all time is the yogurt parfait. It’s the perfect blend of yogurt, fruit, and granola, layered in dazzling harmony so you can admire your little masterpiece before digging in.

Inspired by the traditional French parfait (a frozen custard-like dessert), this modern, un-frozen adaptation has become commonplace in cafés all over the world. In fact, many airport shops even sell them in tiny “to-go” cups. And it’s no wonder: whether you’re older or younger, yogurt parfaits can be a sweet, creamy, and crunchy way to nourish and energize yourself.

The best part of this dish is that there are so many ways to serve it. Pick your favorite granola, fruit, and yogurt, then harmonize them to your liking. You get to choose how thick the layers are, how colorful it is, and how the flavors dance together. It’s something that can be made every morning of the week, but you’re never bored with it ’cause you’re always mixing it up. As you can probably tell, I’m a huge yogurt parfait fan, but don’t just take my word for it… go try it for yourself and join the fan club.

Is Yogurt Parfait Healthy?

Between the protein, fiber, and natural sugars, the yogurt parfait is a pretty wholesome choice for getting some nutrients in without sacrificing flavor. While Greek yogurt offers a good amount of protein, you can increase it further by using Protein Granola or adding a tablespoon of nut butter. To make this recipe vegan, simply use oat milk yogurt (or a similar vegan yogurt substitute) and maple syrup instead of honey. This recipe is so flexible, it’ll blow your mind!

The Best Yogurt Parfait I Ever Made

Full disclosure: this is my personal experience, so remember to experiment with yours and have fun with it!

I’ve always been a fan of peanut butter and banana… it’s an iconic childhood combo for me. So, I took it a step further by layering cashew cream yogurt, peanut butter, Coconut Granola, and sliced bananas sprinkled with cinnamon and cardamom. Oh gosh, I’m drooling just thinking about it.

In general, adding a layer or two of your favorite nut or seed butter to a yogurt parfait can enrich it and create a whole new dimension of “yum.” I highly recommend trying it out!

How to make ahead and store

If you need to make them ahead of time, I recommend storing the yogurt and fruit separately in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store the granola separately at room temperature, so it stays fresh and crispy, and assemble everything only when it’s time to serve. Once it’s assembled, the yogurt parfait is best enjoyed fresh, but you can put leftovers in the fridge to enjoy the next day and it shouldn’t be too mushy. Any longer than a day and it will be pretty soggy.
I don’t recommend freezing it.

Serving Suggestions

As part of a bigger breakfast or brunch, a yogurt parfait goes great with Keto Blueberry Muffins, Protein Banana Bread, Oatmeal Muffins, Cottage Cheese Pancakes, or Protein Waffles. Just one of these will do, but you can make a whole buffet if you’d like!

For a more savory accompaniment, try Spinach Breakfast Egg Muffins.
