Christie is a curious lifelong writer and passionate home chef with a scientific approach to cooking. She specializes in Cajun food, but will cook just about anything, especially if it takes all day.
Experience
I finished college with a writing degree and 10 years of front-of-house restaurant experience at a family-run European restaurant in Baton Rouge. As an ambitious and curious home cook, I went immediately into food and culture journalism. My food writing has won awards and been published in magazines from New Orleans to Denver, and includes deep dives into Cajun foodways and interviews with chefs nationwide. When I'm not researching the history of a particular smoked sausage or documenting the many ways Louisianans make gumbo, you can find me in my western Colorado kitchen feeding my sourdough starter, Brenda; or out in my vegetable garden doing manual pest control.
