Fresh, zesty, and bursting with Mediterranean goodness, this Greek Pizza is packed with flavor.

Savory vegetarian pizza with cherry tomatoes, black olives, red onions, and fresh basil on a thin crust.

Almost everyone knows pizza was perfected in Italy, but did you know the ancient Greeks had their own history of piling ingredients onto flatbreads, too? While Italy may have given us the classic pizza, Greece’s proximity to the Mediterranean means the two cuisines share a love for fresh, flavorful ingredients. This Greek-style pizza takes this connection to the next level, blending rich cheeses and vibrant vegetables for a Mediterranean-inspired twist on a beloved dish.

Unlike traditional pizza toppings, Greek pizza features some unexpected additions. Olives and cherry tomatoes bring bold, tangy flavors, while the red onions and bell peppers are perfect for veggie lovers. Then there’s the feta cheese which adds a salty, creamy contrast to the classic mozzarella base. Once you layer these together, you’re left with a truly Greek-style creation—bursting with freshness, color, and a medley of flavors you won’t find on your average store-bought pizza.

Whether you’re a pizza purist or a Mediterranean cuisine enthusiast, this Greek-style pizza is proof that fresh ingredients and flavorful combinations can turn a simple dish into something extraordinary. It just might become your new favorite!

Is Greek Pizza Healthy?

If you’re aiming for balance, Greek pizza can be part of a varied and mindful diet, especially if paired with other nutrient-dense foods. It’s made with fresh vegetables like cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and red onions, which are nutrient-rich. The olives and feta cheese provide unique Mediterranean flair, and olives are also a good source of antioxidants and healthy fats. Both, however, add sodium. The dough and cheese contribute carbohydrates and protein, but also calories. Enjoy in moderation, and this pizza should be fine for most diets.

Make Greek Pizza Even Greater

Believe it or not, there are a few things that can enhance Greek pizza even more by increasing the Greek influence. You can start by lightly brushing the crust with olive oil. This adds a little flavor and helps prevent the dough from becoming soggy. There are also a few extra ingredients you can consider adding, including arugula and artichokes, as well as additional seasonings like rosemary and thyme. Finally, you may want to make some homemade Tzatziki Sauce to drizzle on top of the pizza before serving.

How to make ahead and store

Cool leftover Greek pizza to room temperature and then store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days. To reheat, use an oven or an air fryer.

Serving Suggestions

Nothing goes better with Greek pizza than a Greek salad. Personally, I prefer to go with a Greek Cucumber Salad or a Greek Orzo Salad. You can also consider Greek Chickpea Salad or Mediterranean Low-Carb Broccoli Salad. If you’re not a fan of salad, a vegetable side dish like Garlic-Parmesan Green Beans would go well with Greek pizza. You might also enjoy a more traditional pizza side dish like Garlic-Parmesan Chicken Wings.
