These Cardamom Cranberry Clusters are an easy, bite-sized dessert or snack that is naturally gluten-free, vegan, and refined sugar-free!

Cardamom has to be one of the all-time least-appreciated spices out there, and I’m here to give it the rep it deserves! Not only is it versatile enough to be used with both sweet and savory dishes, it also has an incredible warming, slightly spicy flavor that uplifts any ingredients it’s paired with.

Looking for a snack that feels fancy but takes almost zero effort? And that showcases the incredible spice we all seem to own but not use up? Enter: these cardamom cranberry clusters!

Sweet and tangy dried cranberries pair perfectly with the warm, floral notes of cardamom, while a hint of orange zest ties it all together. Whip up a batch for quick weekday treats, or bring them to a party when you want to impress with something that looks fancier than it really is. These clusters are the snackable answer to your sweet-crunchy cravings, and they might just make you look forward to Monday mornings.

Are Cardamom Cranberry Clusters Healthy?

Yes, but with a side of moderation. These clusters are packed with almonds, which are full of healthy fats, protein, and vitamin E. Cranberries bring a touch of natural sweetness and antioxidants, while the almond butter adds a creamy dose of plant-based nutrients. While they’re not entirely sugar-free, using maple syrup and cranberries keeps things naturally sweetened.

Want to tweak the recipe further? Swap out half the cranberries for extra chopped nuts and seeds to cut back on sugar. Prefer a keto-friendly snack? Use sugar-free maple syrup and coconut flakes instead of cranberries. These clusters are a great way to indulge without overloading, but as with anything delicious, enjoy them in moderation!

Make-Ahead Treats For the Week

One of the best ways to stay on track with healthier eating is to plan ahead, and these cardamom cranberry clusters are a perfect example of that principle. When you start your week with nourishing snacks prepped and ready, it’s easier to resist reaching for less nutritious options (or, even worse, the takeout apps) when hunger strikes.

My biggest tip is to customize these clusters so you’ll want to crave them. If you know you need something chocolatey after dinner, throw in some dark chocolate chips so your taste buds get what they want but in moderation.

It’s also important to remember that no food is “bad food,” there are only foods that should be enjoyed in smaller portions and less frequently. Life is about balance, and by making these clusters ahead of time, you’re setting yourself up to savor a treat that fits into your goals without feeling deprived. Who needs store-bought granola bars when you’ve got homemade magic like this in your kitchen?

How To Make Ahead And Store

Once cooled, store the clusters in an airtight container. In the refrigerator, they’ll stay fresh for up to 2 weeks. For longer storage, freeze the clusters on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag. They’ll keep for up to 3 months. Just thaw in the refrigerator overnight before enjoying.

Serving Suggestions

I always find with recipes like this one that making your own Almond Butter makes the end result taste even better. Doing this also means you can use whichever nut butter you’re craving that day, from Cashew Butter to Pecan Butter and even this Pumpkin Seed Butter!

I also love to make multiple different energy balls and clusters throughout the week to keep things interesting. For more ideas, check out these Energy Power Balls, these Cookie Dough Energy Bites, these Protein Balls, or these Peanut Butter Balls.

Serves: 21 clusters
Prep: 20 minutes minutes
Cook: 15 minutes minutes
Total: 35 minutes minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups slivered almonds
  • 1 1/3 cups dried cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2/3 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup natural, creamy almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Instructions

  • Heat your oven to 350°F. Spread the almonds on a baking sheet and cook until lightly golden brown, about 5 to 10 minutes. They burn quickly, so watch them!
  • Mix dried cranberries with cardamom. Then, add orange zest, salt, almond flour and toasted almonds and mix until combined.
  • Place almond butter, syrup and coconut oil in a small, microwave-safe bowl and microwave until smooth and melted, about 1 minute.
  • Pour over the cranberry mixture and mix well.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then pack the mixture into a cookie scoop. Tip the mixture into your hand and shape into a perfect ball, then place on the baking sheet. Use your hands to pack the balls together if they start to fall apart.
  • Bake until lightly golden brown, about 13 minutes. Cool completely on the pan before enjoying.
