Every dessert lover knows that a little whipped cream is the best way to top off any tasty treat. But what everyone doesn’t know is that you don’t always have to settle for store-bought whipped cream that comes out of a can. Not that there’s anything wrong with store-bought whipped cream, but sometimes it’s fun to make your own. Other times, it’s good to put an extra ingredient (like fruit) into your whipped cream to make it even more special. With our strawberry whipped cream recipe, you can accomplish both of those things at the same time.

Making your own whipped cream isn’t that hard. This strawberry whipped cream will give you a dessert topping that’s creamy and subtly fruity, combining everything that’s great about whipped cream with the sweetness of strawberries. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect treat?

Is Strawberry Whipped Cream Healthy?

Strawberry whipped cream probably doesn’t fit the textbook definition of healthy. This recipe is high in calories, fat, and sugar, so moderation is key. On the bright side, strawberries are a source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals.

Keep It Cold

One of the key factors in making whipped cream is using cold ingredients. For starters, use whipping cream that’s cold because it becomes light and fluffy as you start to whip it. The recipe also notes the mixing bowl should be chilled, which helps. As for the strawberries, if you use fresh strawberries, they should be chilled, too. They should also be ripe and juicy to ensure more flavor. However, freeze-dried strawberries can be used in this recipe if that’s all you have available.

Strawberry whipped cream can be prepared ahead of time as long as it’s refrigerated until ready to serve. However, try not to prepare it more than 4 hours in advance.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and halved
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream cold
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Purée the strawberries in a blender until smooth.

  • In a chilled mixing bowl, combine the cold heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar.
