This Shrimp Marinade is simple, flavorful, and versatile, perfect for grilling, sautéing, or baking your shrimp to delicious perfection!

No matter how you choose to cook it, shrimp is amazing. It’s great as an appetizer but can easily become a main dish, too. You can fry it, grill it, air fry it, sauté it, or cook it some other way. It’s as versatile as it is delicious. But no matter how good shrimp is, there is always room for improvement. That’s why I wanted to share this tasty recipe for a marinade that will enhance the flavor of shrimp for every cooking method.

Despite having a lot of different ingredients, this marinade is easy to make and can be prepared in just a few minutes. It’s mostly made up of items you probably already have in your kitchen, like honey, lemon juice, paprika, and oregano. When all of those ingredients are combined in perfect balance with one another, the result is a bold and zesty marinade that packs a punch and makes a normal batch of shrimp something special.

For those who love to marinate meat and seafood, you may also want to try this simple but tasty Chicken Marinade, or this wonderful Pork Tenderloin Marinade. And this Flank Steak Marinade will make any piece of beef taste like it came from a five-star restaurant.

Is Shrimp Marinade Healthy?

While it’s difficult to call the shrimp marinade itself healthy (it is a little high in sodium), the shrimp you use it with is rich in protein and antioxidants. That said, the marinade uses honey instead of refined sugar, and by making it yourself you can control the quality of the ingredients that go into it.

Whisk, Coat, and Save

For such a simple recipe, the most important step is making sure you thoroughly whisk the marinade. With so many ingredients, it’s important that they are all well-blended so no single ingredient sticks out. The next key is making sure the shrimp gets coated evenly so that every inch of shrimp is covered with the marinade. Finally, I recommend separating some of the marinade before it’s mixed with the shrimp and setting it aside. Once the shrimp has been cooked, you can use the extra marinade you reserved as a finishing sauce to enhance the flavor profile even more.

How to make ahead and store

This marinade can be made up to 3 days in advance if it’s stored in the fridge in an airtight container. This doesn’t include the shrimp, however, which should only be marinated right before it’s cooked.

Serving Suggestions

As mentioned, this shrimp marinade can be used no matter how you’re preparing your shrimp. If you need some inspiration on how to cook shrimp, I would recommend grilling Low-Carb Shrimp Zucchini Boats. I also find that Air-Fryer Shrimp is a great fit for this marinade, especially if you want to prepare shrimp in a healthier way. You might also make good use of this marinade if you’re preparing Baked Shrimp or perhaps Shrimp Stir-Fry.
