Enjoy this spicy party favorite without compromising your low-carb diet!

When I first discovered these keto jalapeño poppers, I knew I had a hit on my hands. My daughter loves them, and this keto version is much healthier than the ones dipped in batter and deep-fried at fast-food restaurants. They’re also highly customizable. I can tweak their flavor profile to suit whatever I have on hand.
Finding recipes for a good keto appetizer is easy these days—the internet is full of them. However, I’d argue these jalapeño poppers have become a fast favorite. I get all the cheesy goodness I look for in an appetizer, along with a hint of heat and plenty of salty, smoky bacon.
Best of all, making these stuffed poppers is quick and easy. A platter of these delectable treats takes less than 30 minutes to prep and cook. That’s why I love making them for football season—less time in the kitchen and more time with my guests!
I haven’t tried these in my air fryer yet, but that would be another great way to make them. Although every air fryer is different, you can likely set the temperature to around 390°F and cook them for about 10 minutes or until the bacon is crispy. However you cook the poppers, they’re sure to be a hit for your next game day or get-together!
Are Keto Jalapeño Poppers Healthy?
Jalapeños contain vitamins A, C, and K, as well as some B vitamins and capsaicin. Even better, baking the poppers lowers the fat typically found in breading and deep-frying. To further reduce the fat, consider using turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, as well as low-fat cheese.
You can also omit the meat and dairy. Substitute with your favorite vegan cheese and bacon. However, you might need to adjust the cooking time. Vegan meats and cheeses usually cook (and melt) faster.

Are Some Jalapeño Peppers Hotter Than Others?
The amount of capsaicin in the jalapeño pepper is what gives it heat. Younger jalapeño peppers are generally less spicy than their more mature counterparts. Typically, smaller jalapeño peppers are younger than larger ones, and most red jalapeños are older than green ones.
The other way to gauge a jalapeño’s heat is by its “stretch marks,” white lines that run along the pepper. These lines are caused by stress during the growing season and are also a sign of their maturity. More lines equal more heat—most of the time. The “stretch mark” test isn’t foolproof, but it’s a good starting point when perusing the produce aisle.
The general rule of thumb is that if you want milder jalapeños, go for smaller green ones without visible lines. If you prefer heat, stick to larger, more mature jalapeños.

How Do I Store Leftovers?
Once cooked, these jalapeño poppers stay fresh for 3 days in the refrigerator when stored in containers or covered with foil. For the best results, reheat them in the oven or air fryer. Leftovers can also be frozen and placed in freezer bags for up to 3 months. Defrost overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

Serving Suggestions
These keto jalapeño poppers are a perfect addition to a game day or picnic. Serve them with Keto Chicken Wings and a Low-Carb Keto Cucumber Salad (to help cool the heat). I’d also recommend a plate of Avocado Deviled Eggs, which offer a nice kick courtesy of the diced jalapeño in the filling.
While you’re at it, add some veggies and dipping sauces. My favorites include seedless raspberry jam (the sweetness pairs perfectly with the poppers), Blue Cheese Dip, and Homemade Peppercorn Ranch Salad Dressing. Enjoy!
