PIN How to Grill Chicken Breast
The amount of grilled chicken breast I eat in the Summer is no joke.
Whether it be Thai grilled chicken skewers, grilled tropical chicken bowls or just a piece of grilled chicken breast dipped in ketchup (you’re judging me. BUT it’s my fav) it’s just the most versatile Summer meat.
But if you’ve eaten a fair amount of chicken in your life which, if you’re reading this, I am sure that you have, you will have experienced some dry-as-the-dessert chicken breast that is NOT GOOD. Chicken breast, although versatile, is one of the hardest meats to master and to keep it juicy!
Especially when you introduce the grill which is a little less predictable than cooking chicken breast in the oven.
BUT with a few tips and tricks that I’ve learned, you don’t gotta worry about making dry chicken anymore! You will learn how to make perfect grilled chicken breast that is ready for all your chicken needs!
How to Grill Boneless Chicken Breast
Things you will need:
- Raw grilled chicken breast
- A meat mallet or rolling pin
- Parchment paper
- A marinade. (I love this keto chicken marinade)
- A gas grill
- Digital instant read meat thermometer
Step 1: Prepare the chicken
To keep the chicken nice and juicy and evenly cooked we went to press the chicken to an even thickness all around. This also helps tenderize the meat. So, place the chicken breast between 2 layers of parchment paper and use a meat mallet or rolling pan and whack the thickest parts of the breast so that they are all an even thickness. Don’t go crazy! You don’t want to pulverize it!
Step 2: Marinate the chicken
Marinating is KEY to keeping the chicken flavorful and really locking in the juices, so don’t skip this step! Whisk the ingredients, place the chicken in and cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes – but I like overnight!
Step 3: Start grilling!
Make sure your grill is nice and CLEAN otherwise your chicken will stick to it. Once clean, heat to medium heat and use tongs to place your chicken breast on indirect heat (not right on top of a flame.) Cover the grill and cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes, then flip with the tongs and cook another 5-7 minutes or until a thermometer says 165°.
Step 4: DEVOUR!
Remove the chicken from the grill to a plate, cover and let rest 5 minutes. THIS IS KEY TO MAKING THE CHICKEN JUICY AND MOIST. Do NOT skip this step!
5 minutes later and you are ready to eat your chicken and you never have to ask how to grill chicken breast ever again!
