Drizzle this rich, sweet, and tangy glaze all over your favorite meat or veggies.

Golden caramel sauce in a glass jar with a spoon, perfect for healthy dessert recipes and gourmet meals.

Every cookout needs a fun array of flavors to match the party vibe. And sometimes, BBQ sauce doesn’t cut it. When you’re craving a richer taste with plenty of versatility, craft this simple bourbon glaze. It goes great on both meat and veggies.

The first time I watched my friend make this velvety blend of sweet and tangy garlic goodness, I was stunned. She poured in a whole cup of bourbon whiskey and I thought: Isn’t that for drinking later? But she showed me how delicious whiskey can be when cooked into a meal—both for its dark, luscious flavor and for how it tenderizes meat.

With a beautiful balance of savory and tangy sweetness, bourbon glaze enhances any dish it’s added to. Bring it to your next shindig, whether that’s an outdoor picnic or dinner inside, and it’s sure to please the crowd.

Can I get drunk off bourbon glaze?

Although this glaze gets its rich flavor from bourbon whiskey, the alcohol content lowers when cooked. So, sure, if you choose to guzzle a bunch of bourbon glaze straight—which of course I don’t recommend—then you might feel a little of the alcohol’s effects. But when it’s cooked into a meal, you likely won’t feel anything other than a pleasant tingling on your taste buds because it tastes so nice!

How do I store leftovers?

Keep your leftover bourbon glaze in a well-sealed jar and refrigerate it for up to 7 days. For longer storage, transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 3 months. Before reheating or incorporating it into another dish, let it thaw in the fridge for 24 hours.

Serving suggestions

Get your grills and ovens ready, because this bourbon glaze is the perfect marinade for mouthwatering meats like Juicy Grilled Chicken Breast, Broiled Pork Chops, or Healthy Baked Salmon. But if you’re craving a veggie-based dish to pour this glaze over, try Roasted Asparagus And Mushrooms, Sautéed Broccolini, Roasted Carrots And Parsnips, or Carrot-Raisin Salad.
