It’s Guacamole but with a picante kick!

Whenever I’m at a party and there’s a bowl of guacamole, I usually don’t stray too far from it. Guacamole is truly one of my favorite types of dip, especially when it’s done well. But if you have ever thought your guacamole was missing something, I have a solution.
While this recipe doesn’t stray too far from traditional guacamole—you still get that creamy avocado texture—it does come with a little kick. It’s also easy to customize how much heat you want in the guacamole, so with a little trial and error, you can find the perfect combination of heat and avocado.
If you’d prefer to stick with traditional guacamole, I have the best guacamole recipe ever. If you’re just a big fan of avocados, I would also recommend a cucumber avocado salad or perhaps a crab avocado salad. On the other hand, if you’re in the market for a spicy dip, I would suggest trying spicy BBQ sauce or this recipe for the perfect chipotle sauce.
Is this Spicy Guacamole Recipe Healthy?
This recipe for spicy guacamole is as healthy as any other guacamole recipe. The main ingredient is still avocados, which are full of nutrients and healthy fats. The red onion, jalapeño, and spices like cumin also add to the nutritional profile, which has fiber and vitamin C. Plus, the calories, and sodium in this recipe are all relatively low, so regardless of your diet, you should feel good about indulging in some spicy guacamole.

As Hot as You Want
As mentioned, one thing I love about this recipe is that it’s possible to adjust the level of heat. Most of the spiciness in the recipe comes from a jalapeño. But if you want to create an even spicier guacamole, you can add multiple jalapeños or perhaps use habanero or serrano peppers depending on your personal taste. You can also mix in small amounts of Sriracha sauce or cayenne pepper to add some heat.
On the flip side, for a milder taste, try using only half of a jalapeño in the recipe or use a poblano pepper instead. I would also suggest adding a mild vegetable like a tomato to the recipe to help balance out some of the heat from the peppers.

How do I prep and store this guacamole?
As long as you keep spicy guacamole in the fridge inside an airtight container, it should last 3 or 4 days, allowing you to make it ahead of time. I find putting a sheet of plastic wrap right on top of the guacamole keeps it from browning. If parts of it do start to turn brown, you can skim them off the top while the rest should be good to eat.

Serving Suggestions
You can dip anything you want in spicy guacamole, although vegetables and chips are the traditional choice. If you prefer chips, I would recommend making your own keto tortilla chips or air fryer tortilla chips. You might also enjoy having guacamole as a topping on your shredded chicken tacos or even healthy nachos. Frankly, any type of Tex-Mex or Southwestern-style dish would benefit from a little spicy guacamole.
