The perfect condiment that’s both sweet and spicy!

For any fan of sauces and condiments, I couldn’t be more excited to share this recipe for pineapple habanero sauce. This is not an ordinary condiment, nor is it like anything you’d find in a store. It’s a sauce that will go great on a wide variety of foods and is ideal for making at home. Before making this sauce for the first time, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of mixing the sweetness of pineapple with something as hot as a habanero. But I’m sure glad I did.
Admittedly, it sounds like an unusual combination at first. But I assure you that this recipe strikes the right balance. You get plenty of spice from the habanero peppers but an undeniably fruity taste from the pineapple as well. You can also sense some of the other ingredients that help to diversify the flavor profile. In the end, you get a sauce that has a little bit of heat but not so much that you can’t handle it.

Is Pineapple Habanero Sauce Healthy?
Since the two main ingredients in this sauce are pineapple and habanero pepper, it has a great nutritional profile. The sauce is practically overflowing with vitamin C thanks to the pineapple and pepper, while lime juice and apple cider vinegar add nutrients as well. There is also plenty of vitamin A, potassium, and fiber in this sauce, and if sodium is a concern, you can skip the salt.

Playing with Heat
It’s possible to make adjustments to this recipe to tweak the level of spiciness. For example, the recipe calls for two habanero peppers, but it’s okay to use one if you want a more mild sauce. Also, make sure you remove the seeds from the peppers if you don’t like as much heat. Likewise, you can add a pinch of sugar or a natural sweetener like maple syrup to the sauce mixture if you want to further balance out the heat of the habaneros with some sweetness.

How to Make Ahead and Store
Once the sauce has had a chance to cool, it can be stored in a glass jar that has a tight lid. In the fridge, the sauce should remain good for at least 2 weeks while it can be stored in the freezer for 3 to 6 months.

Serving Suggestions
Pineapple habanero sauce can be used as a condiment for just about any dish. If you’re a fan of chicken, I would suggest pairing it with Oven-Fried Chicken Breast or perhaps Paleo Orange Chicken. It can also be used on top of a Burrito Bowl or as the sauce on Shredded Chicken Tacos. One of my favorite things to do with pineapple habanero sauce is to drizzle it on Pork Chops. It can also be a good way to add new life to Oven-Roasted Vegetables or Apple Coleslaw.
If you enjoy different types of sauce, there are several other recipes you can try. If you like sauce with a kick, I would recommend Spicy BBQ Sauce or perhaps Buffalo Sauce. For something a little more tame, I suggest Keto BBQ Sauce or Low-Carb Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce.
