With their caramelized edges and crispy layers, these Parmesan-Crusted Brussels Sprouts can win over even the pickiest eaters.

Parmesan Crusted Brussels Sprouts

It’s no secret that Brussels sprouts don’t have the best reputation. But perhaps the problem is people not making them the right way. That’s why we came up with a simple recipe. It turns this bland and bitter veggie into a real crowd-pleaser. All it takes is butter, cheese, and a few spices. I love it when all you need are a handful of kitchen staples to amp up the flavor!

The butter helps caramelize the Brussels sprouts, removing any lingering bitterness that this veggie sometimes has, while the Parmesan makes them irresistibly crispy and delicious. Finally, with a mix of garlic, paprika, and basil, these Brussels sprouts boast a well-balanced herbaceous flavor.

After trying this recipe, you might find that you’re actually a fan of Brussels sprouts. From Brussels sprouts with bacon to Brussels sprout salad, there’s a whole new culinary world to explore!

Are These Parmesan-Crusted Brussels Sprouts Healthy?

A serving of Parmesan-crusted Brussels sprouts is a mixed bag in terms of healthiness. The good news is that Brussels sprouts are a healthy vegetable loaded with vitamins and minerals. They’re also a good source of fiber. However, both butter and Parmesan cheese add saturated fats and calories to the dish. If you’re concerned about the saturated fats, swap the butter for olive oil.

Delicious Variations

With a recipe like this, there are endless possibilities for creating different variations based on your personal taste. For instance, those who really want to spice things up should add jalapeños or sriracha to the melted butter. For less spice but more flavor, some folks use rosemary, oregano, and thyme. Seasoned breadcrumbs are another popular option because they can improve the flavor and add an extra crunch.

How Do I Store Leftovers?

If there are leftovers, refrigerate them in an airtight container. They should remain good for at least 3 or 4 days.

Serving Suggestions

Parmesan-crusted Brussels sprouts go well with just about anything. But I have steak at the top of my list. Try this Keto Steak With Garlic Butter Mushrooms if you’re counting carbs. I also like the fancy restaurant vibe of this Bacon-Wrapped Steak recipe.

Fish can also be a good option, especially if it’s Parmesan-Crusted Salmon. A wide variety of chicken dishes also pair nicely with these Brussels sprouts. One of my favorites is Rosemary Chicken—it’s light in fat but not in flavor. Finally, if you’re looking for something more “Italian,” Air-Fryer Chicken Parmesan is a winner!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts halved
  • Aioli for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F. In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, melt the butter in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the baking dish from the oven. Combine the melted butter with Parmesan cheese, basil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper, stirring until a paste forms. Spread this mixture evenly across the bottom of the dish.
  • Arrange the Brussels sprout halves cut-side down over the butter and cheese mixture. Roast in the preheated oven until the edges are golden brown and crispy, approximately 35 minutes.
  • Once done, transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving platter. Serve with a side of aioli for dipping, if desired. DEVOUR!
