This zesty, three-ingredient Orange-Carrot Smoothie With Ginger is as refreshing as it is energizing!

Two tall glasses of orange-carrot smoothie with ginger, garnished with fresh ginger slices.

There’s nothing quite like starting the day with a smoothie that tastes as vibrant as it looks. I’m a big believer that smoothies should check all the boxes: fast, nourishing, and delicious. Whether it’s a fruit smoothie or a green smoothie, I’ll happily blend one up anytime.
Another plus? As much as I love veggies, getting my picky eater to feel the same way is a challenge. This smoothie is sweet enough that my second grader happily sips it down. So when carrots aren’t exactly a hit at dinner, try blending them into a smoothie like this one, and you may be pleasantly surprised.
This orange carrot smoothie with ginger uses just a few fresh ingredients—orange juice, carrot, and ginger—but delivers a seriously refreshing punch. Plus, it comes together in minutes, making it the perfect quick breakfast or energizing afternoon snack. The combination of naturally sweet carrot, zippy fresh ginger, and bright orange juice creates a smoothie that’s light, slightly spicy, and wonderfully thirst-quenching. If you love smoothies that wake up your taste buds and leave you feeling great, this one’s for you.

Is This Orange Carrot Smoothie With Ginger Healthy?

Yes! This smoothie is naturally Whole30-friendly and vegan (if you skip the honey). The carrot adds fiber and beta-carotene, and orange juice provides a good boost of vitamin C. If you prefer to limit natural sugars, you can swap some of the orange juice for water or coconut water and adjust sweetness with a little stevia if needed.

The Zing Of Ginger

Let’s talk about ginger for a moment. Full of vibrant, zesty flavor, this root and popular condiment infuses food and drink with its warm, slightly spicy notes and citrusy aroma. It’s used in everything from curries to teas, and yes, even in smoothies. With its aromatic brightness, ginger balances the natural sweetness of carrots and oranges. And a little definitely goes a long way!
If peeling fresh ginger feels like a hassle, there’s a simple trick that makes it a breeze: use a spoon! Instead of reaching for a knife or veggie peeler (which can slice away too much of the root), just scrape the skin off gently with the edge of a spoon. The thin skin comes off easily, and you’ll keep more of the juicy, flavorful flesh. Bonus: it’s safer and way easier to work around those little nooks and knobby bits.
Though fresh ginger is always best, powdered ginger can be used in a pinch. For this recipe, which calls for one teaspoon of fresh minced ginger, use about a quarter teaspoon of ground ginger instead.

Can I Prep This Ahead?

You can prep smoothie packs ahead by slicing the carrots and freezing them with the ginger and ice cubes. When you’re ready to blend, just add orange juice and go.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this smoothie with a light breakfast like Avocado Toast or Egg Toast. For a quicker, more convenient breakfast or snack, enjoy it with a few Energy Power Balls or Nut-Free Energy Balls that you’ve made ahead of time.
