Known for their creamy, tangy filling, Deviled Eggs are bite-sized appetizers that are sure to delight your guests.

I have to admit that deviled eggs aren’t for everyone. When I was younger, I was definitely in that group. But once I grew up and started attending cocktail parties, picnics, or any special event where hors d’oeuvres were served, I developed an appreciation for these bite-size appetizers. After trying this recipe, I think you’ll feel the same way.
Deviled eggs are a classic appetizer, making their appearance at almost any special event. They’re the perfect finger food and also surprisingly creamy and flavorful. But what is it that makes them so popular? The beauty of this recipe is in its simplicity. Hard-boiled eggs are halved and filled with a smooth and creamy mixture of yolks, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, salt, and pepper. This rich, tangy filling is what makes deviled eggs impossible to resist! After a pinch of paprika and parsley for garnish, they’re ready to devour. Whether you’re enjoying deviled eggs in their traditional form or jazzed up with exciting additions, I’m sure the appetizer tray will be empty in no time!

Are These Deviled Eggs Healthy?
The main ingredient here, hard-boiled eggs, are healthy. Eggs are a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals like vitamin D, folate, and choline. Plus, while they contain cholesterol, it’s dietary cholesterol, which has been shown to have little effect on blood cholesterol levels. The toppings are a bit trickier. Mayonnaise, while made predominantly from eggs, is high in calories and fat. Choosing a mayonnaise that’s made with healthy oils and avoids added sugar and salt can help. You can also substitute mayo with Greek yogurt for a healthier alternative. While Dijon mustard is low in calories and fat, it may contain high levels of sodium. This recipe is suitable for low-carb, keto-friendly, and gluten-free diets, among others.
Get Creative With The Details
Deviled eggs are incredibly versatile, and there are countless ways to customize them. I’ve seen versions that include relish and bacon bits in the filling, which add exciting textures. You can also create a green version by mixing in avocado instead of mayonnaise, which retains the same creamy texture. Finally, try to add in some interesting sauces. For a spicy deviled egg, I like to include a bit of sriracha. But my absolute favorite version of deviled eggs offers a rich, decadent twist. I add a few drops of truffle oil to the blend, and it completely transforms the recipe.
Let’s not forget about our dry ingredients. If you’re out of Dijon mustard, you can always use dried mustard powder instead. You’ll just want to make sure you have enough mayonnaise to retain the creamy filling. I also like to add dried chives to my mixture for more herbs.

How Do I Store Leftovers?
Place the eggs in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freezing is not recommended.

Serving Suggestions
Since deviled eggs are traditionally served as an appetizer at special events, let’s consider some other hors d’oeuvres to include. I like to stick with finger foods here so that you’re serving up bite-sized treats. One of my favorites is shrimp with Cocktail Sauce. It’s served cold and matches the tang from deviled eggs. I also like to serve Cucumber Sandwiches to add some crunch.
For some warmer appetizers, I like to cook a batch of Stuffed Mushrooms and Mini Quiches. They’re both hearty, filling, and absolutely delicious in cooler weather. This Pigs in a Blanket recipe is sure to be a hit with kids and grown-ups alike. You’ll be sure to impress your guests with this robust appetizer selection!
