This recipe combines juicy, seared chicken breast with herby Boursin cheese to create a deceptively easy feast.

Creamy chicken in garlic Parmesan sauce garnished with fresh herbs, healthy comfort food recipe, dairy-based dish, easy dinner idea, nutritious meal from Food Faith Fitness.

Boursin cheese is among the many things I grew up eating, but it was always enjoyed in a specific setting. Whether it was a last-minute dinner party at a relative’s home or an all-out 200-head Christmas party, the hors d’oeuvres table always had Boursin cheese and water crackers. To this day, it reminds me of those chaotic and joyful family gatherings.

It never even occurred to me that this Boursin chicken recipe could be one of its applications. But adulthood means that we can take a cheese spread that used to be considered a special holiday treat and center an entire elegant chicken dinner around it anytime we’d like.

The best thing about this recipe is that, aside from the Boursin (maybe), the ingredients are likely already stocked in your pantry and fridge. The second-best thing about this recipe is that you get to use a mallet to pound the chicken breast, and that’s a lot of fun.

But the very best thing about this dish is its rich and complex flavor profile! The Boursin cheese makes the sauce positively silky while adding those delightful herbaceous notes. The garlic, onions, and white wine bring in subtle savory notes that elevate the juicy chicken. Altogether, it’s decadently satisfying.

Plus, this whole meal comes together in just under half an hour. That makes it perfect for an indulgent weeknight dinner that feels like a special occasion.

The origin story of Boursin cheese

The story of Boursin cheese begins with François Boursin, a cheesemaker from Normandy, France. In 1957, he opened a small factory in the village of Croisy-sur-Eure—but it wasn’t until 1963 that he introduced his signature creation: a creamy, spreadable cheese blended with garlic and fine herbs. Inspired by traditional French fromage frais with herbs, Boursin’s cheese quickly stood out for its whipped texture and rich flavor. Today, Boursin is available in a variety of flavors, but the classic garlic and herb version remains a fan favorite. You can find it at nearly every major grocery store—and even at smaller markets and co-ops. Whether enjoyed as a spread or as an ingredient in dishes like this Boursin chicken, it delivers a unique creaminess and flavor that’s hard to replicate with anything else.

How do I store leftovers?

Store leftover Boursin chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 or 4 days. You can also freeze cooled leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. To reheat, gently warm on the stovetop with a splash of broth or cream, or in a 350°F oven until heated through. You can also microwave in short bursts, stirring the sauce as needed. Always make sure leftovers reach a safe internal temperature of 165°F.
