One sip, and you’ll agree—this fresh Strawberry Milkshake tastes better than the one at your favorite ice cream joint!

Strawberry Milkshake

It’s summer around these parts, and that means it’s ice cream season. I’m a huge fan of ice cream in all its forms: custard, frozen yogurt, slow-churned, etc. You scoop it, and I’ll eat it. Oftentimes, you’ll find me at the local ice cream stand licking my way to the bottom of a waffle cone or slurping up the milkshake flavor of the day. But guess what I learned last summer? I can make my own milkshakes at home.

This strawberry milkshake recipe is the epitome of summertime indulgence. The fresh strawberries add a natural sweetness and beautifully vibrant color, while the vanilla ice cream makes it irresistibly creamy. It’s a treat, yes, but more importantly, it’s ridiculously easy to make and the perfect warm-weather pick-me-up!

Is A Strawberry Milkshake Healthy?

That’s a trick question, right? That’s a hard no, friends. Milkshakes are high in sugar, fat, and calories due to the ice cream and whole milk. But hey, at least the strawberries themselves are a great source of fiber and vitamins C.

If you want to make a “healthier” version, you can trade the vanilla ice cream for frozen yogurt or a plant-based ice cream. Likewise, you can use oat or soy milk in place of whole milk so you maintain that creamy texture for your shake. It just won’t be as rich.

Ingredients Matter

The secret to a perfectly creamy milkshake lies in the quality of the ingredients and the blending process. Using fresh, ripe strawberries ensures maximum flavor and natural sweetness. It goes without saying, but this recipe really tastes the best when you buy your strawberries when they’re in season. That’s when they’re the sweetest.

And when it comes to the ice cream, go for the good stuff, preferably organic—even better if it’s locally made! High-quality vanilla ice cream uses real vanilla beans, which makes all the difference in the world for this strawberry milkshake.

How To Make Ahead And Store

I’d enjoy this milkshake right away. It will truly taste best served fresh!

Serving Suggestions

If I’m drinking a shake, I’m telling you right now: I’ll want classic diner food. And there are so many delish takes on diner favorites here to choose from, like this Jalapeño Popper Burger or Hawaiian Pizza Burger. And if you’re going to have a burger, there better be fries! For something spicier, try these Cajun Fries or these McDonald’s Copycat French Fries.
