A deeply flavorful Shrimp Burger that shines with the standout seasoning of Old Bay—Baltimore, Maryland’s finest!
I’m not sure who first came up with the idea of chopping up shrimp, mixing it with seasonings and binders, and forming it into patties, but whoever it was, they definitely deserve a round of applause!
There aren’t many steps to take these beautiful ingredients from the cutting board to the dinner table. In fact, shrimp burgers take just half an hour to prep and are packed with bold flavor, thanks to the yummy array of seasonings involved. It’s recipes like this that make me excited about warm weather, an ice-cold glass of sauvignon blanc in hand, and my favorite people gathered around for a meal al fresco.
Shrimp burgers don’t get as much love as they deserve. If you’re taking a break from red meat or simply looking to cut back, this recipe is a wonderful stand-in when a chicken burger won’t do. Versatile enough to pair with a variety of toppings and sides, whether you’re grilling for a backyard barbecue or serving them on a weeknight, shrimp burgers are the perfect way to bring a taste of the coast to your home.
Are Shrimp Burgers Healthy?
Not only is shrimp low calorie, but a 3-ounce serving provides around 20 grams of protein. Certain ingredients in this recipe, such as breadcrumbs and mayonnaise, do add extra calories and carbs though, so it’s best to enjoy shrimp burgers in moderation. To make the recipe a little healthier, use a light mayonnaise or Greek yogurt instead, and for a gluten-free variation, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and a gluten-free bun.

More Ways To Dress Your Burger
The beauty of making shrimp burgers at home is how customizable they are. When I want some added pizzazz, I love topping the burger with a handful of peppery arugula, which offers a lovely contrast to the shrimp. A dollop of garlic aioli on the bun takes the burger to the next level, and capers add a briny bite to the arugula and aioli. If you’re a fan of capers, just a few add so much flavor.
Other great combinations include thinly sliced red onion, tomato, and avocado. For another delicious combo, try adding pickled vegetables, like pickled carrots and jalapeños.
How do I store leftovers?
Store your leftover shrimp burger patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also store them in the freezer in an airtight freezer-safe container for up to 6 months.

Serving Suggestions
This dish is versatile enough to serve alongside just about anything. Enjoy these shrimp burgers with Ina Garten’s Potato Salad and a bright mix of greens, like this Spinach Salad. I couldn’t serve any burger without a side of fries, whether that’s Air-Fryer Sweet Potato Fries, Garlic-Parmesan Fries, or lower-carb Zucchini Fries. Looks like a perfect menu to me!
