Padrón peppers hail from a quaint municipality in northwestern Spain, and have since made their way into kitchens around the world as a cherished staple of Spanish tapas. Whether served as a standalone snack or as a garnish for various dishes, these peppers are versatile and easy to prepare. A quick char transforms them into a crispy, smoky delight you’ll reach for all week long.

Frying Padrón peppers is a straightforward and rewarding process. As they heat up, gently move them around in the pan to ensure even cooking without much effort. In just five minutes, they blister beautifully. A sprinkle of sea salt and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice elevate them into a simple yet satisfying side dish that pairs well with a variety of main meals.

It’s worth noting that Padrón peppers are high in fiber, low in calories and contain many vitamins, such as vitamins B6 and K. A Game Of Spice

Cooking with Padrón peppers offers a unique culinary thrill. Most of these peppers are mild and nutty, but about one in ten carries an unexpected spicy kick. This element of surprise turns eating them into a fun, shared experience, especially at gatherings. Imagine a group of friends, each biting into a pepper, wondering who will discover the fiery one first. Whether you embrace the surprise or try to guess the spicy culprit, this playful element makes Padrón peppers a memorable addition to your table.

How to make ahead and store?

Let the peppers cool completely before storing them in an airtight container in the fridge, where they’ll keep for up to 1 week. To reheat, toss them back into a pan with a splash of oil over medium heat. While freezing is technically possible, it’s not recommended; the texture and flavors are best fresh.
