This Orange-Lime Grilled Grouper will make you a fish lover! Deliciously flaky and perfectly grilled with tons of citrusy, buttery flavor!

Though I am a huge fan of any kind of seafood, with the exception of salmon, tuna salad, or fish sticks, my family isn’t all that fond of fish. They don’t like its strong taste and smell and would much rather I make something else. But, as we all know, fish is healthy and should be included in our diet regularly. That’s why I’ve started serving grouper. You may not have heard of it, but it’s a flaky white fish that is super versatile, has a mild flavor (somewhat reminiscent of chicken), and cooks up really moist. Luckily, there aren’t many complaints when I say there’s grouper on the menu for dinner. I’ve learned to cook it in so many different ways, and this orange-lime grilled grouper is quickly becoming a favorite.
This recipe incorporates sweet, spicy, and tangy ingredients to make a flavorful fish that the whole family will enjoy. It’s an easy mid-week meal, but also fancy enough to serve at your next dinner party.
Is Orange-Lime Grilled Grouper Healthy?
It absolutely is! Grouper is an excellent source of lean protein and contains essential vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D, iron, and magnesium. The dish calls for butter, which is spread on the fish once grilled, but you can choose to omit it and add an extra spritz of lime juice along with some fresh pepper instead.

How to Buy The Best Grouper
When you visit your local supermarket or fish counter, it’s crucial to focus on selecting the freshest fish available. The fillet should feel firm to the touch; if it’s mushy or too soft, it’s not fresh. Fresh grouper should also have a clean, saline aroma and show no discolorations. Look for a bright, consistent color, typically pinkish-white, without any dark spots or dullness. Additionally, if possible, ask about the source of the grouper, as wild-caught varieties are often more flavorful. By keeping these factors in mind, you’ll ensure that your grilled grouper will be both delicious and satisfying.

How to make Ahead And Store
Though the fish tastes best right off the grill, you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. It can also be frozen for up to 2 months.

Alongside this tasty orange-lime grilled grouper, I love serving hot, cooked rice. I recommend adding some Cilantro-Lime Instant-Pot Rice to your plate or Cilantro-Lime Cauliflower Rice if you’re looking to keep things low-carb. Another beautiful side dish for this fish is a perfectly cooked Asparagus-Stir Fry. Put it all together, and you’ve got yourself a winner of a meal!

For the butter
- 2 tablespoons butter softened to room temperature
- 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice

Instructions
- In a microwave-safe dish, mix the orange juice, lime juice, and honey. Microwave for 10-20 seconds, until slightly warm to allow the honey to melt, and whisk again.

- Place the grouper into the marinade, flesh side down, and marinate for at least 4 hours (8 hours is best).

- Once marinated, preheat your grill to medium high.

- Take the grouper out of the marinade and rub with oil. Then, sprinkle with a pinch of cayenne pepper and salt.

- Grill the grouper, skin side down for 4 minutes, then flip and cook another 3-5 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fish. Mine was perfect at 9 minutes ,and it was about 3/4-inch thick. You want the internal temperature to be 145°F.
