Honey Sriracha Chicken finds the perfect balance between the sweetness of honey and the spice of sriracha for a chicken dish that pops with flavor in all the right ways.

If you ask any chef the key to a great dish, there is a good chance they’ll say balance. Obviously, that’s a little easier said than done, but one dish that seems to hit the spot is this honey sriracha chicken. It’s truly the best of both worlds, thanks to the mellow sweetness of honey and the spicy nature of sriracha. It’s not just about the honey and the sriracha though; this recipe also includes a little garlic, soy sauce, and lime juice, so there is a whole spectrum of flavors that balance each other out.

Naturally versatile thanks to the sweet and spicy flavors, this honey sriracha chicken works well on its own and can also be used to make chicken tacos, chicken salad, or chicken wraps. You can even use chicken wings instead of chicken breast if that’s how you prefer to eat your chicken. Naturally, the sauce is the key to the dish, and luckily it’s pretty easy to put together with common pantry items, making a simple and super tasty meal within easy reach.

Is Honey Sriracha Chicken Healthy?

Honey sriracha chicken can be considered a reasonably healthy dish. By using boneless, skinless chicken breast, you have a good source of protein with minimal fat. Other than the honey adding a little sugar to the recipe, most of the ingredients are healthy. As long as you stick to low-sodium soy sauce (or swap it for coconut aminos which has even less sodium), there aren’t too many concerns, allowing this dish to easily be part of a balanced diet.

Tailoring That Sweetness And Spiciness

As mentioned, this recipe strikes the perfect balance between sweet and spicy. But if you prefer to make one more powerful than the other, there are tweaks you can make to the recipe. If you prefer a little more sweetness, a small amount of either orange juice or orange marmalade can accomplish that (plus, you’ll add moisture to the chicken!). You can also add a little bit of hoisin sauce or brown sugar to give the dish more sweetness and tang. On the other side, a little extra sriracha sauce can increase the spiciness of the dish. You also might consider adding a little chili sauce, diced jalapeños, or red pepper flakes to the sauce if you’d like more of a kick.

How do I store leftovers?

Any leftover honey sriracha chicken can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the fridge for 3-4 days.

Serving Suggestions

As mentioned, there are so many different ways to serve honey sriracha chicken. It can be used in a wrap or a bowl or even in a stir-fry dish. If you want to stick with more traditional side dishes for your chicken, you can’t go wrong with Coconut Rice or Seasoned Rice. For a vegetable side dish, I would recommend something like Roasted Air-Fryer Cauliflower or Parmesan Brussels Sprouts. Finally, for those who want something sweet to balance out the spiciness, try incorporating some fruit into the meal, perhaps with Fresh Mango and Corn Salad or a side of Air-Fryer Pineapple Rings.
