Make a delicious Caesar dressing that you know will also be healthy.

Most of us often opt for a salad when we want something healthy and nutritious. But we don’t always factor the salad dressing into the equation. Not every store-bought dressing is healthy. The best way to avoid this situation is by making your own dressing. Take this healthy Caesar dressing recipe. It substitutes some of the calorie-heavy ingredients with lighter options like Greek yogurt. Plus, making it at home gives you more control over the sodium and sugar content in the dressing.

Worried that your homemade Caesar dressing won’t taste like the store-bought version? Don’t be. The first time I made this Caesar dressing, I could barely tell the difference from the bottled stuff. It still has the same lemony and garlicky flavors you’d expect, plus Parmesan cheese and Dijon mustard. And yes, you’ll still have that great tang that makes Caesar dressing so good. The only difference is in the fat content, not the flavor.

Is This Caesar Dressing Healthy?

True to its name, this homemade Caesar dressing is a much healthier alternative to your typical store-bought options. With this recipe, the olive oil provides some heart-healthy fats while the eggs are eliminated and replaced by Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt gives the whole thing a boost in protein, calcium, and vitamin D. The anchovy in the recipe contributes even more antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and other nutrients. And, of course, this dressing is overall relatively low in fat, calories, sodium, and sugar.

With Your Own Two Hands

One option to consider when making homemade Caesar dressing is mixing everything by hand. A blender or food processor will mix all of the ingredients together much quicker, but if you don’t have those tools at your disposal, don’t let that stop you. You can try whisking everything together yourself. Just make sure that you stir everything until all of the lumps in the Greek yogurt have been removed, giving the dressing a smooth consistency. Bear in mind that you’ll also need to break down the anchovy. That could be done with a pestle and mortar or simply with a very sharp knife.

How Do I Store Leftovers?

Store your leftover Caesar dressing in a sealed mason jar or container. It should last up to 1 week in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

There is no shortage of ways to use healthy Caesar dressing. For one, you can put it on any salad, including a Whole30 Chicken Salad. If I have some extra dressing, I like to use it with Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps or any other sandwich wrap I make. This dressing can also be made as a dipping sauce if you have a Chicken Pesto Sandwich or an appetizer like Fried Zucchini Sticks.
