This Chunky Guacamole Recipe skips the mashing for a bolder texture in your favorite dip!

It’s amazing how popular guacamole has become compared to even just a decade ago. And if you’ve tasted guacamole, you know why that’s the case. There are so many deliciously different ways of preparing this classic. One of my favorites is this recipe for chunky guacamole.
While the ingredients aren’t much different from other guacamole recipes, there’s a key difference in how it’s prepared. Instead of mashing all the avocados, you dice two of them, leaving big chunks within the guacamole. You’re also free to dice the tomatoes and red onion to whatever size you like. If you ask me, the chunkier, the better!
When it comes to flavor, this chunky guacamole recipe is just as delicious as the smoother variety. You still get the creamy avocado, which contrasts well with the sharp red onion and minced garlic. The freshly squeezed lime and diced jalapeño add a citrusy kick, perfect for chips, tacos, and more!
Is This Chunky Guacamole Healthy?
Avocados are known for containing a wide array of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins C and K, potassium, and magnesium. They’re also an excellent source of fiber and healthy fat. The other veggies, like tomatoes and red onions, also add even more vitamins and antioxidants. So yes. You can definitely call this a healthy recipe.

The Right Amount Of Kick
The amount of spice in chunky guacamole is entirely up to you! Personally, I like it spicy. The recipe calls for one jalapeño, but I’ll usually add an extra one—I even keep the seeds in for an extra kick!
Of course, if you want a milder guacamole, remove the seeds from the jalapeño. For something less intense, swap the jalapeño with a banana pepper. I’ll also substitute with red or green bell peppers. They’re even milder than the banana peppers.
Are you skipping the heat altogether? There are also other ways to amp the flavor. For example, you could add an extra tablespoon of lime juice and one more clove of minced garlic.

How Do I Store Leftovers?
Store leftovers in an airtight container with a lid. If you store it tightly covered in the fridge, it should stay good for 2-3 days. You will likely notice some browning in the guacamole, but it’s totally edible.

Serving Suggestions
The most common way to enjoy chunky guacamole is as a dip. In this case, I suggest making homemade Keto Tortilla Chips to enjoy with your guacamole. If you’re not counting carbs, try these Fried Tortilla Chips.
Of course, this isn’t the only way to enjoy guacamole. I sometimes use it as a topping when making Juicy Grilled Chicken Breast or Grilled Cod. A scoop of chunky guacamole is also a great addition to Shrimp Tacos—or any other type of taco.
