Take your iced coffee to the next level in under two minutes when you learn How To Make Cold Foam at home with just four simple ingredients and a milk frother!

If you’re anything like me, you still order your pumpkin spice latte over ice no matter how cold it is outside. And if that’s the case, chances are you’ve tried ordering your cold coffee drink with cold foam on top. If you haven’t, you’ve been missing out. But don’t worry! I’m here to show you how to make cold foam easily at home so you can give it a try for yourself.

Cold foam has been a favorite among coffee lovers for a while now. It’s that delicious, creamy little cloud that floats on top of your cold brew or iced coffee, making each sip just a little more delightful. It might seem like a fancy addition that only your favorite barista can whip up, but guess what? Cold foam is actually quite simple to make at home. With just a few key ingredients and a milk frother, you can elevate your coffee game in minutes. No kidding!

Is Cold Foam Healthy?

This particular recipe for cold foam is rich with dairy products, and includes powdered sugar, so it’s not the healthiest topping for your cup of coffee. However, you can opt for a low-calorie sweetener instead. You can also use non-dairy options like a full-fat coconut cream, and your choice of non-dairy milk, but it will have a different taste and consistency.

What Is Frothing?

The act of frothing cream is to whisk air into it, creating little bubbles that turn the liquid into a light but thick, foamy texture. If you don’t have a frother — a tool specially designed for creating cold foam — you can mimic the frothing process with a whisk, or by shaking the cream in a mason jar. If you want a first-rate foam, you’ll want to make sure to use whole milk, because the higher fat content helps create a thicker and more stable foam.

How to make ahead and store

Since this is an individual recipe, it’s best to make and use it right away, as the foam will deflate and it can separate if left too long.

Serving Suggestions

Cold foam topping is delicious on any cold coffee order, from lattes to macchiatos to cold brews! You can even put it on top of your favorite Coffee Smoothie if you’re not into iced coffee. My favorite at-home coffee recipe is this Homemade Caramel Vanilla Iced Coffee, but you can customize your coffee order however you’d like. You may also be in the mood for a sweet treat as well, like one of these Gluten-Free Blueberry Scones or a slice of this Pistachio Crêpe Cake.
