Ingredients
- 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 small white onion diced
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 2 pinches cayenne pepper optional
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 soft corn tortillas for serving
- Shredded lettuce, diced tomato, avocado, or shredded cheese toppings, optional
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Stir in the diced onion and ground turkey. Cook for approximately 5 minutes, or until the turkey is browned and the onion becomes soft. While cooking, break apart the meat.

- Add the minced garlic, tomato sauce, ground cumin, chili powder, dried oregano, paprika, cayenne pepper (if desired), and salt. Stir thoroughly before putting the mixture into your slow cooker.

- Put the lid on the slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours, allowing the flavors to blend. Once ready, serve the turkey taco meat in warm corn tortillas topped with your favorite ingredients.
