Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Pinch of crushed red pepper optional

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, dried basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

  • Cover the saucepan, bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
