Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 pound button mushrooms cleaned and stems trimmed
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, buttermilk, and egg until smooth.

- Dip each mushroom into the batter, then roll in panko breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper.

- Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large pot to 375°F. Fry the mushrooms in batches until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
