Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 12 ounces cheddar cheese cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 cups frying oil such as vegetable oil
  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Combine flour, salt, pepper, dried parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder in a bowl. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

  • Dip each cheese cube first in the flour mixture, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Place on a parchment-lined tray.

  • Freeze the coated cheese cubes for 40 minutes to set the coating.
  • Heat oil to 375°F in a deep pot. Fry the cheese cubes in batches until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.

  • Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with fresh parsley sprinkled on top.
