Ingredients
- 8 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 loaf French bread cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter cubed
- Maple syrup for serving
- Whipped cream for serving optional
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and evenly distribute the bread cubes in it. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all are soaked.

- Cover the dish and refrigerate several hours or overnight to allow the bread to absorb the liquid.
- In a bowl, combine brown sugar and flour. Cut the cold butter cubes into the mixture with a pastry cutter and gently mix with your hands.

- Once the mixture is crumbly like streusel, stop mixing it. Refrigerate this topping overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Uncover the baking dish. Top it with the brown sugar crumble mixture and bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with maple syrup and whipped cream if desired.
