Croissant French Toast

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 large day-old croissants halved lengthwise
  • Butter as needed
  • Powdered sugar or maple syrup for garnish
  • Fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

  • Make the egg mixture by whisking the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Mix until smooth.

  • Pour the custard into a shallow dish. Soak each side of the croissants in the mixture for 30 seconds to 1 minute so they can absorb the liquid.
  • In a large nonstick pan, melt butter over medium heat to grease the pan.

  • Shake off excess liquid from each croissant and cook them undisturbed for about 2 to 4 minutes on each side. They should be golden brown.
  • Serve immediately with fresh berries and maple syrup or powdered sugar on top.
