Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized fresh lime
- 2 teaspoons granulated or superfine sugar
- 2 ounces cachaça
- Extra lime wheel or wedge optional, for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the lime in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds and white pith to reduce bitterness. Cut each half into 4 wedges for a total of 8 small pieces.
- Place the lime wedges in a sturdy rocks glass. Sprinkle the sugar on top.
- Use a muddler to firmly press the limes, extracting juice and essential oils. Avoid pulverizing the rinds too much to prevent excess bitterness.

- Fill the glass with ice cubes.

- Pour the cachaça over the ice. Stir well until the sugar is mostly dissolved and flavors are well combined.

- Garnish with an extra lime wheel, if desired, and serve immediately
