Ingredients

  • 8 ounces wide egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1/2 head of green cabbage cored and sliced into strips
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • While the noodles are cooking, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they become translucent and start to caramelize, about 5-7 minutes.

  • Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet with the onions. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and begins to brown, about 10-12 minutes.

  • Toss the cooked noodles with the sautéed cabbage and onions. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve warm.
