Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons milk of choice
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk of choice

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line the bottom of a 9-inch cake pan with parchment paper, spraying the sides with cooking spray or oil.
  • In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add in the eggs, milk, and vanilla and whisk until combined.
  • Transfer to the pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Place the pan on a wire rack and let the cake cool in the pan completely.
  • Once the cake is cooled, beat the butter in a large bowl using an electric hand mixer until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the remaining frosting ingredients and beat until well combined.
  • Spread on top of the cake.
