Ingredients

  • cup plain whole milk yogurt
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast cut into 1½-inch cubes

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, cinnamon, allspice, cardamom, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.

  • Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers. Grill the skewers for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked and has nice grill marks.

  • Serve hot with sides of your choice, such as pita bread, garlic sauce, and fresh vegetables.
