Ingredients
20Bone-in chicken wings
1 1/2TbspBBQ Dry Rub Seasoning (recipe below)
1/4tspSea salt
1 1/2-2CupsBBQ Sauce (recipe below)
For the rub:
2TbspChili powder
1TbspBlack pepper
1TbspGround cumin
1TbspSea Salt
1TbspCoconut sugar (optional)
1tspOnion powder
1tspGarlic powder
1tspDried thyme
1 tspChipotle powder
1tspSmoked paprika
1/2tspCayenne pepper
For the BBQ sauce:
3/4CupUnfiltered, unsweetened apple cider
3/4CupApple cider vinegar
1 1/3Cup Tomato sauce
1Tbsp+ 1 tsp Dijon mustard
1Tbsp+ 1 tsp Pure maple syrup
3TbspHoney
1Clove garlic,minced
3/4tspChili Powder
1/4tspCinnamon
1/4tspSalt
Instructions
Make the rub:
Mix all rub ingredients in an airtight container. Shake well.
Make the sauce:
Whisk all ingredients together in a small sauce pan and simmer for 30 minutes.
For the wings:
Rub the chicken with the 1 1/2 Tbsp of rub and salt.
Place the wings in a 4 quart slow cooker. Pour 1/2 Cup of the BBQ sauce over the wings.
Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours.
Preheat the oven broiler. Transfer the wings to a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil. Broil for about 10 minutes on high, until the wings begin to turn golden brown in spots.
Warm the remaining BBQ sauce if it's cold and toss a cup of it with the wings. Add the rest if you like them extra spicy.
