Ingredients
- 1 loaf Italian bread about 16-17 inches long
- Olive oil as needed for brushing
- 1 cup pizza sauce low-sodium, plain
- 1 1/2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Mini pepperonis as needed (optional)
- Fresh basil or oregano chopped (for optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F so it is hot and ready.
- Cut the loaf in half lengthwise to expose the soft interior. Brush a thin layer of olive oil evenly over the cut surface of each half.

- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over it.

- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce. Lightly sprinkle Italian seasoning on top. If using, place mini pepperonis as a topping.

- Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are lightly toasted.

- Remove the pizza bread from the oven, allow to cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
