Ingredients

  • 1-2 tbsp oil for cooking vegetable, olive, or avocado oil
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 4 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Sliced green onions for garnish, optional
  • Sesame seeds for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Oil your skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and minced garlic. Break the turkey apart and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, crushed red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Pour the sauce over the browned turkey.

  • Let simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Taste and adjust seasonings or brown sugar as needed.

  • Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the turkey hot over cooked rice if desired. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
