Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons unsalted butter softened
- 4 slices whole-grain sandwich bread
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard divided
- 4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 6 slices deli ham
Instructions
- Spread 1 teaspoon of the softened butter on one side of each bread slice. On two of the slices, spread about 1/2 tablespoon of the Dijon mustard on the side opposite the butter.

- Place two of the bread slices, butter-side down, onto a preheated nonstick skillet over medium heat. On each, lay one slice of cheese followed by three slices of ham, then another slice of cheese.

- Top with the remaining bread slices, mustard side down. Cook for about 4 to 5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook another 2 to 4 minutes until the cheese melts. Remove from the skillet and let rest for 2 minutes before slicing.
