Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14 1/2 ounces) drained
- 12 ounces light beer
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 pound frozen fries baked according to package instructions
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat a large pot over medium heat. Cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

- Stir in the diced tomatoes, light beer, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, black pepper, and kosher salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally until thickened, about 45-50 minutes.

- While the chili simmers, bake the frozen fries according to the package instructions until they are crispy and golden brown.

- To assemble, place the baked fries on a serving platter, spoon the hot chili over the fries, and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. The residual heat from the chili should melt the cheese. Serve immediately.
