- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup milk divided
- 3 1/2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle iron. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix chocolate chips with 1/2 cup milk. Microwave for 25 seconds, stir, and repeat until melted and smooth.

- Add the remaining milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and eggs to the melted chocolate. Whisk well until the mixture is smooth.

- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, and granulated sugar.

- Add the wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently until mixed, avoiding overmixing.

- Lightly spray or brush your preheated waffle iron with oil or nonstick cooking spray. Spoon about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of batter into each section of the iron.

- Close the waffle iron and cook for about 4-7 minutes or until the waffles are crisp on the outside and cooked through.

- Serve warm with your favorite toppings if desired.
