Ingredients

  • 6 medium potatoes or 4 large scrubbed and cut into ¼-inch fries
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Heat the air fryer to 380°F.
  • Drizzle the fries with olive oil. Toss with salt until all are coated.
  • Arrange some of the fries in the bottom of the air fryer basket in a single layer. Leave space between them. Place the basket in the air fryer and cook for 15 - 18 minutes. Remove the cooked fries and repeat with the next batch.
  • Once all the fries are cooked, put them all back into the basket and fry for another 2 - 3 minutes so they get hot and crispy before serving.

Notes

  • You can add the seasoning whenever you like. Doing so before cooking allows the taste to infuse into the fries. Waiting until after the fries are cooked keeps the tastes separate so that the seasoning is more pronounced. If you wait until after to add the seasoning, you also risk uneven distribution, so some fries will be loaded with the seasoning while others will be bare.
  • Allowing the fries to soak in cold water for 30-60 minutes removes excess starch and results in crispier fries, so you CAN soak them but it's not necessary.
