Ingredients

  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp hot sauce or to taste
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 12 ounces cold Mexican lager like Modelo
  • Ice
  • 1/2 cup cold clamato or tomato juice optional

Instructions

  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a pint glass. Spread salt on a plate and dip the rim in the salt to coat.
  • Squeeze the juice from the remaining lime wedges into the glass, then drop in the wedges.
  • Add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Pour in the cold beer. If you like, you can also add the tomato juice/clam juice.
  • Gently stir the ingredients to mix, fill the glass with ice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Go for a good-quality Mexican lager such as Modelo, and always fresh lime juice.
  • Experiment with different brands and levels of hot sauce to find one(s) that suit you.
  • Apply the salt lightly and evenly to prevent an overpowering saltiness.
