Well you guys, we have come to the end.
This is the LAST stop on the Fitness Class Review Series train that we have been on.
And, yes, I know we haven’t really visited this series for about 11 billion years, but I was busy.
Read: I was lazy and didn’t want to go to the gym any more than my usual 4 days of lifting. 🙂
For the last installment of the series, I tried a Pilates class on the reformer.
The last time I did Pilates it was in front of a VCR, my basement when I was still in High school.
If “VCR” didn’t tip you off to how long ago that was, I don’t know how else to tell you.
It was also a pre-natal Pilates video.
Why I had one of those? Don’t ask.
I really had no idea what to expect with this class. I mean, a reformer? Is that like a transformer?
Am I going to be shot at with laser beams and all kinds of other dangerous objects, like in the movies?
I did not know.
I am actually slightly disappointed to tell you that did not happen.
In fact, NOTHING exciting happened. At all.
I want to give a disclaimer here. My opinion is only about the actual workout – NOT Core5 Studio or the teacher. They were both EXCELLENT.
In fact, the teacher of the class paid the most attention to the students out of any of the classes I attended.
Pilates on the reformer though? Not for me.
It was VERY slow moving, and I feel like I didn’t get any sort of workout.
Now, I know Pilates is not mean to be a workout, it’s more for core strength and alignment.
However, those areas are pretty good for me, and I enjoy a workout that is HARD.
So, it just wasn’t my thang.
HOW-EV-ER, if you need a low-impact way to strengthen your core, and re-align yourself than I could see this being great!
The reformer itself was kind of cool though. Basically it’s a box on top of a spring-loaded platform that you can push, pull or even lay on top of. It also has some handles that you can use almost like resistance bands.
I don’t have much else to tell you other than that guys. You may LOVE it, but this girl will stick to her deadlifts.
Well, that wraps up the series! Did ya’ll enjoy it?
Were you inspired to try anything, or DID you try any of the classes I reviewed?
I’d love to know!!
And, remember, if you live in the Tampa area and want to try where I workout for free, you can get 14 days HERE!
