This orange smoothie is made of blended Bai5 Costa Rica Clementine, frozen bananas and vanilla protein powder for an easy, healthy and creamy drink that is perfect for after a workout!
It’s a ME Moooooonday!
If you read that like Super Mario, it is SO much more fun. I PINKY SWEARZ IT.
How was ze weekend? Did you have an extra eleventy million hours to spend working your muscles out at the gym to make them all BIG, STRONG and TUFF?
Yeah. ME EITHER. Because, like, I have a life and the sun is shooting rays of glorious, summer happiness at me, which means that I kinda just want to enjoy it before the SAD RAIN of Seattle hits. It’s looming. I can feel it, and I DO NOT LIKE.
Anyway. I know you understand me. It can just be super hard to schedule in that sweat sesh, especially when there are all kinds of busy, summer activates going on. I have been trying to figure out a sneaky way to please both the inner health person inside of me AND the hi-I-like-summer-and-going-outside-with-mah-friends-because-like-LIFE person.
Which I A-L-M-O-S-T gave up on. Achieving THAT kind of balance? SO MUCH thinking and brain power REQUIRED.
And THEN Bai and Greatist preee much saved my whole life with their July 30 Day Fitness Challenge that adds DA flavor to your fitness routine, while still allowing you to, you know, LIVE (!!!!)
They have this awesome calendar that lists an EZ PZ way to add a little extra fitness into your day. LIIIIKE for example: today, you must challenge your co cower to a PLANK DUEL.
I thought about challenging my dog, since I don’t really have coworkers. BUT, she’s on vacation at Grandma and Grandpas. Which is good because she’s, like, REALLY STRONG and I was sort of intimidated.
So, the hubs and I did it instead. (I won.)
Which made our abs cry with joy, pain, growth and all sorts of other things, but MOSTLY they cried out for a little tasty protein recovery action.
OH HAI BAI5 Costa Rica Clementine you blend with frozen bananas, oranges and a little bit of vanilla protein powder into an ultra-creamy-feels-like-dessert-frosty-beverage-that-I-want-to-slurp-down-ALL-summer but, PSYCH, you justsohappen to have the PERFECT ratio of carbs and protein to fill up my muscles.
You guys have tried Bai5 yes? If you answered “no” then you need to shut your screen, go to the store and get yourself some. Finish reading when you get back. They’ve become an essential in our post workout smoothie jams for a few reasons:
1. Uhmmm. ALL the flavors taste like heaven in liquid form. So, there’s that.
2. They use the outer part of the coffee fruit (I did not even know there was such a thing!!) so you get a LEEETLE caffeine boost AND all those natural antioxidants are jam-packed inside above mentioned liquid-from-heaven-tastiness.
3. They’re naturally sweetened with stevia. Which is the sweetener that I use at home AND does not leave that “I just drank a low calorie (ONLY 5 of ’em!) beverage and now my mouth tastes funky” aftertaste.
You know what I am talking about.
Back to the smoothie. We didn’t even TALK about the fact that they take 2 MINUTES to make. LIIIIKE there are only 2 minutes between your face, a straw and recovering from the daily fitness challenge, outside on your porch in the happy summer rays, sipping on creamy dreamy banana-meet-creamsicle-with-HEALTH-AND-GLOWY-SKIN-ANTIOXIDANT goodness.
See? Adding the FLAVAH. Fitness is meeting delicious. <— Does the rhyme? I’m pretending YES.
If you didn’t already want to check out all these challenges let me just mention that over the weekend, you know what we had to do?
“TREAT YO’SELF”
It actually said that. WITH a picture of a Popsicle.
I don’t know about you, but anything that’s going to get me beach ready BUT ALSO includes pictures of popsicles, is pretty much the ULTIMATE of things that make me smile and feel like I am straight up WINNING at life.
Pretend what I’m about to say to you is in the least-bossy-just-looking-out-for-mah-internet-friendz kinda way:
Click over, blend up and SLURP DOWN.
Like, RIGHT NOW.

This smoothie looks amazing! I haven’t seen this flavor of Bai5, but I love the coconut one. I love that your husband did planks with you- with gloves on!! The best!
Taylor Kiser says
Coconut is SO good! But, really, they are all!
I KNOW HAHA! He wanted to look “tough” such a silly guy! Thanks!

Also love the plank challenge – i always make my boyfriend do them with me and he hates me for it 😉
Taylor Kiser says
You TOTALLY need to try it! Especially frozen, to make it thick and icy and YUM!
BAHAH my husband was DYING during them, it must be a man thing! 😉 Thanks Beverley!

I saw this post yesterday and I was going to comment, but I thought no I’m going to try it for breakfast. I like to have smoothies for breakfast, especially now with this heat I’m just not in the mood to eat anything. I used everything fresh rather than frozen, the orange taste was nice and refreshing. I found the bananas are just used for the creamy texture. I added in some protein but I am also going to try it without the protein. It can be made without protein can’t it?
Taylor Kiser says
So glad you liked it! It can definitely be made without protein, it just won’t be as thick. I personally love thick smoothies, but that’s just me! Thanks Adam!
Adam Trainor says
Yeah I do like thick smoothies because they make me feel fuller for longer. If I have one for breakfast, I find that I can last till lunch time without having to snack inbetween
Taylor Kiser says
Exactly! 🙂
Kelley @ Chef Savvy says

Taylor Kiser says
Thanks Kelley! Hope you love it!
Annie @ Annie's Noms says
Oooh love these! Flavour combo is amazing! If I make one will it entice the sun back out, because for real, it’s 4:30pm and I just turned a light on as it’s so dark and gloomy outside! 🙁 🙁 🙁
Taylor Kiser says
WHAT?! It’s so sunny here, that is so sad! Yes, it will tots make the sun come out! 😉 Thanks Annie!
