Welcome to the second Swap Saturday!
If you remember, a few weeks back I told you about BeautyCounter. BeautyCounter makes safe, non-toxic skincare and makeup products that I LOVE.
I’ve been testing them out to see if I feel comfortable recommending them to you from both a consumer and makeup artist stand point and, you guys, I CAN.
A few weeks ago, we did our first Swap Saturday with Beauty Counter’s Touchup Skin Concealer Pen, which I am in LOVE with! It covers my dark under eye circles like NO OTHER.
This week, we are reviewing another product that I love, the Tint Skin Foundation, so that’s what we are going to compare to my OLD foundation today.
Old Foundation:

Revlon ColorStay Foundation
Ranking on the Environmental Working Group “Think Dirty” App:
9/10 (10 is the most dangerous)

Why it got that ranking:
SO MUCH BAD YOU GUYS.
The major reason why this concealer is ranked an 9 is for developmental and reproductive toxicity. BUT, it also has carcinogens (which cause cancer) and can be NO GOOD for your immune system.
Yep. That has been going ALL OVER MY SKIN.
The most harmful ingredient in this foundation is Ethylparaben. This is an endocrine disruptor that can affect how body hormones and chemicals function. It is also as toxic as the more well known Paraben,
Not. Good.

What I am using now:

BeautyCounter Tint Skin Foundation
Ranking on the Environmental Working Group App:
ALL BeautyCounter products rank 3 or less.

Why it got its ranking:
Made of safe, non-toxic ingredients such as water and sodium hyaluroante, which is a natural moisture magnet that promotes smoother looking skin and decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles!

BeautyCounter has a “Never List” which states 1500 questionable or harmful ingredients, used in MANY products, that they will NEVER use. This included 1400 chemicals banned to be used in personal care products in Europe, as well as ingredients that BeautyCounter themselves find questionable. Learn more about their ingredient selection process HERE.
As you can see “parabens” is on this list. So, that gross Ethlyparaben from my old foundation? NEVER used in their products.

Why I love it:
First off, I LOVE the color. I feel like I have “weird” yellowish skin and my old foundation never quite matched. I feel like, with BeautyCounter Tint Skin, the color is PERFECT.
What I love the most is the coverage and feel though. When I first tested the product just on my hands to check color, it felt SO lightweight. Honestly, because it felt so light I didn’t have high hopes that I would get good coverage once I put it on my face. BUT, I was wrong. The coverage is really smooth and flawless and, depending on how you put it on, you can make it SUPER sheer and light, or a little more heavy -whatever you prefer!
Like I mentioned, it’s also light. I don’t feel like I am wearing cakey makeup all day. I don’t feel like I am wearing makeup at all!
Finally, I just want to mention that, at first, I thought it smelled a bit weird. But, I’m TOTALLY used to it now. I just don’t want you to think I am only singing praises (although, I truly don’t have bad things to say!)
I hope you’re at least starting to think about what you put ON your body as much as what you put IN IT. It’s so important, and something I am really starting to learn!
