Hi friends!
What a weird post right? It’s not about food, faith OR fitness! But, considering blogs are also just about life in general, and I always want us to feel like we’re real-life friends beyond the internet, I thought it might be fun to write a post about what is going on in MY real-person life, beyond the recipes I am making to feed your hungry faces.
If you’re on my email list, then you’ll know that Mr. FFF and I have been really focusing on making friends here in Springfield. We’ve been SO career-focused through our whole marriage (almost 5 years!) that we’ve honestly never really put a lot of effort into that – terrible, I know. Now that we know we’re going to be here for 3 years, we’ve decided to make that a priorioty though! We’ve met a few awesome couples and have really enjoyed getting to know them and actually hang out with people as a couple – something we’ve never done before! I even had my first dinner party which was SO fun to just cook for enjoyment, and not to be testing a blog recipe. If you’re curious, I made these Indian PaleoChicken Kebabs. We also joined a “before I do group” at our church for people who are engaged. We are table leaders, and offer insight and wisdom into marriage. It’s fun and reminds us of the days when we were engaged/newlyweds! 🙂 Oh! I also got to attend my first tail gating, which was a blast!
The one thing we don’t love about Springfield, is the food choices. I mean, of course there are some good places, of course. But, coming from Seattle, we’ve definitely been spoiled with awesome food, and lots of difference ethnithities to chose from – which is TOTALLY our jam. But, at the same time, it’s also been fun trying to find those hole-in-the-wall joints that remind us of back home, even if some of them are lack luster 🙂
School has been really busy for Mr. FFF, considering it’s a graduate program and he is getting his doctorate, so I don’t seem him TOO often. However, we did get to visit Nashville, TN for our first time when he had a little break in the summer. Oh my gosh! WHAT A COOL CITY! We both agreed that, out of all the US cities we have been to, and there are A LOT, we liked Nashville the best. I would go back every weekend if I could! I have a must-visit restaurant below, and we also loved Biscuit Love (biscuit donuts!), the Peg Leg and Porker (best pulled pork!) Loveless Cafe (my first biscuit!) and The Wildhorse Saloon for line dancing.
We’re both super excited for the Holiday Season, because it means we will get to see family again. That has been the hardest part of moving – just not seeing them. My parents did come from Canada in the Summer to visit and see our house (did I tell you we bought our first house here in MO?!) so that was great. But, we will be back in Canada for over a week, which will give us time to really be with family AND hit up some of our fav restaurants 😉 We will also be in WI visiting Mr. FFF’s side. My birthday actually falls right on Thanksgiving this year, so we’ll be spending that with his side. This will be my FIRST time celebrating American Thanksgiving! It’s still so weird to me to have it in November as us Canadian folk celebrate in October!
That’s life lately! Now, I have a few simple, favorite things that make me happy to share with you!
The most popular recipe on FFF is currently: Paleo Orange Chicken
The recipe that I can’t wait to share with you: 100 calorie, low carb protein brownies. It’s coming in November and it’s worth the wait! Make sure you’re on my e-mail list, or following me on Instagram, so you know when it’s live!
Mr. FFF’s most requested recipe for dinner at the moment: a tie between mango chicken with coconut cauliflower rice or Moroccan style paleo pork chops with spiralized apple noodles.
My favorite recipe that I’ve shared in the past 3 months: Crispy No Bake Almond Joy Bars
Wanting to try Thai Butternut Squash Red Curry for dinner once it cools down.
Favorite snack to throw in Mr. FFF’s lunch kit: Enjoy Life Foods Baked Chewy Granola Bars (he loves the carrot cake flavor!)
Dreaming about being back in Nashville at Bar Taco (MUST GO if you’re in the city!)

Wearing these straight leg legging pants EVERY DAY. So comfy.
Obsessed with this new non-toxic, volumizing mascara. (P.s are you on my safer beauty/skin care list? Sign up here for more info!)
Listening to the Joyce Meyer Enjoying Everyday Life Podcast everyday at lunch time.
Eating this blueberry cinnamon roll cashew butter every chance I get.
Making my own nut butter in this food processor, whenever I feel extra fancy. It works SO well and I LOVE the bowl scraper!
Wishing Mr. FFF didn’t look at all our credit card bills so that I could sneakily buy these boots.
JUST KIDDING. I want these boots. HIDDEN POCKET!
The only thing that gets me through my workout: know that this birthday cake protein powder is waiting for me at the end. But, all these brands flavors are BOMB.
Impulse bought this coffee mug, and it makes drinking coffee so much more fun.
Speaking of coffee, in LOVE with Kauai Coconut Caramel Crunch. Have it on an Amazon subscription!
Wondering if Kopi Luwak is actually delicious and worth the price.
Can’t stop watching Marcel The Shell with Shoes On.

I LOVED this post!
It’s so much fun reading about your life and getting to know you better! Topping my list of favorite post for October (yes, even above those almond joys). Thank you for being my cooking celebrity!
P.S. Those leggings look so comfy, and affordable, and. . . .NOW I NEED A PAIR!
Even my wallet is nodding in agreement.
Well, I know, wallets don’t nod, but. . . you understand, right? Life is so much better when you’re in agreement with that temperamental beast.

As a Nashvillian, I would also recommend Five Daughters Bakery and Mafiaoza’s Pizza next time you’re in town!

Hi Taylor!
I love this blog change up! It shows how you genuinely connect to your followers. It’s nice to see and truly inspirational. 🙂
I see we have some some books in common. I highly recommended reading “Girl in the Song” by Chrissy Cymbola Toledo. She’s my pastor’s wife and the leader in our church choir (I sing in the choir) at Chicago Tabernacle. I think you would like it. 🙂
Thank you again for your inspirational words and amazing recipes (I’ve cooked a lot of your paleo/whole 30 and of course majority of your desserts…. Yummy)! 🙂
Blessings,
Jessica

I’m so glad you and your hubby are enjoying Springfield, Taylor!! Regarding this dinner party.. I can’t even wait to try these Indian Paleo Chicken Kebabs! They sound amazing. Since I’ve been a long-time follower, I’m actually surprised I haven’t yet!! I clearly need to get it in gear. Consider these my weekend dinner!
Also, I had to say how much I loved this post. It’s so easy for the blog life to take over and consume our every move. I need to practice this more and ensure I’m getting more personal in my posts. Thanks so much for such a great reminder! Have a great day! Xx, Amanda
