You guys. Today, I am tired.
And not tired as in just-give-me-a-5-second-cat-nap-and-I’ll-be-golden kinda tired. Tired as in, let me sleep-for-the-rest-of-my-life-because-bears-get-to-sleep-for-half-their-lives-and-I-am-a-human-so-I-should-have-more-privileges-than-a-bear-so-my-whole-life-is-permissible kinda tired.
You get it.
You know why I’m tired? I’ll give you ONE GUESS.
Yep, if you’ve been here long enough, you probably guessed that Mr. FFF was up to his usual antics again.
So, last night we went to bed. I was tired (which is why people go to bed RIGHT?) but, clearly, Mr. FFF? He was not so much.
Just as my eyes were about to shut and I was about to end LA LA land, I hear “CAN YOU FEEL THE LOVE TONIGHT, IT IS WHERE WE ARE”
Yes, an impromptu “Lion King” serenade happened in Chez FFF.
There was even snapping and arm flailing. I think it was supposed to be dancing but, really, no matter how hard you try you can’t dance normally whilst laying down.
Car dancing though, is a favorite of mine. But, that’s neither here nor there.
After he finished his song I proceeded to ask “So, are you done?” And he replied “Are you impressed?”
“No. I want to sleep.”
“SHOT THROUGH THE HEART AND YOU’RE TO BLAME! YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME!”
So, how are you today? I hope that you got enough sleep to make up for my lack of it.
Now, I must tell you that there was a silver lining to my own personal night on Broadway.
I woke up to these healthy peanut butter cups in my freezer, ready to be devoured. I didn’t have to even THINK about mixing some oatmeal recipe up and having to do the awful, laborious task of putting it in the microwave for the PERFECT amount of time, so that it isn’t runny but it isn’t a solid hockey puck.
You know, first world problems.
Side note: Why is it that the recipes you think are going to be the easiest to develop are the HARDEST? I had to make these protein cups eleventy billion times to get them perfecto. It was the same thing with the keto chocolate peanut butter fat bombs.
Which, was kind a good thing. Taste testing was notsohard.
How to make peanut butter cups
Making peanut butter cups at home is probably the easiest thing ever. ALMOST easier than buying them at the store.
- 1.Melt your chocolate and coconut oil in the microwave. Mix in the protein powder
- Pour the chocolate just under 1/3 of the way into 12 mini muffin cavities and freeze until set, about 10-15 minutes.
- Stir together the peanut butter and protein powder and roll into 1 tsp sized balls.
- Place one ball in the center of each cup, pressing it out. Fill the top with the melted chocolate
- Refrigerate until set and EAT!
What kind of protein powder to use to make protein peanut butter cups?
You can use any protein powder you like here! I used plant based protein for Mr. FFF, but you could use whey too!
I meannnn, healthy chocolate peanut butter protein cups that are basically equivalent to a homemade protein bar because they are PROTEIN packed, BUT it has only-a-few-ingredients-but-I-can’t-remember-exactly-how-many-because-my-brain-says-zzzzz? GIMME DOSE. OR, if you’re looking for a paleo version, my girl at Beaming Baker has you covered with these Paleo Chocolate Almond Butter Fudge Cups!
I also revert to a 3 year old who has no manners or sense of the English language when I’m tired.
Or, maybe that’s just all the time.
Quit judging me and go stuff your hungry mouth with chocolatey-peanut-buttery cups of HEALTH.
Take that Reeses.
HA-YA!

- While they harden, mix together the peanut butter and vanilla protein powder. It might be easiest to use your hands! Roll them into 12 1 tsp sized balls.

- Fill the cups with the rest of the remaining chocolate.

I made these last night and they were SO GOOD! I actually could not wait for them to freeze for 3 hours… I tried them after an hour and then I decided I would go wild and eat most of them for dinner. Best Monday night dinner ever! I will be making these again tonight, since they are gone already. 🙂

hello! I love your site and recipes. Is it possible for you to add a link to the top of each post that takes you straight to the recipe?
Thanks!
Lu
Taylor Kiser says
Hi Lu, Thanks for the comment! This is one of the VERY few recipes on this site that you have to click a link to get to the recipe – 95% of the recipes are within the same blog post. Unfortunately, it’s a contracted agreement that the links are at the bottom of the page for these very few recipes – I’m sorry! Hope that helps and thanks for the sweet words! 🙂
Lu says
Hi Taylor, thanks for the response! I actually don’t have a problem at all with linking to another site, I understand there are agreements in the food blog world.
I’m referring to a regular post, where the recipe is at the very bottom and there seems to be no way to quickly get to it without scrolling down. I know that sounds kind of lazy, but sometimes I am looking up recipes on the go on my phone, and that’s when it becomes cumbersome to scroll through a lot of text before reaching the recipe. A quick link at the beginning of a post that takes you straight down to the recipe would be super helpful. On weekends or when I have more time, I do enjoy reading the posts 🙂
Just a suggestion and thanks for reading comments, and posting some wonderful recipes!
Taylor Kiser says
Hi Lu,
Unfortunately, this is something I can’t offer…it’s long and complicated and takes a LOT of time to put into place. It’s A LOT more work than it seems (and I already work everyday with no weekends, so my time is super limited) I’m so sorry!! I hope that you understand 🙂
Michelle @ Modern Acupuncture says
Just made these again for the millionth time and wanted to let you know that these have become a standby in my house. Love having them in my freezer for “emergencies.” They are sheer perfection. Thank you! 🙂

I am SO excited to hear this Michelle! Thank you for letting me know!!!

I love this recipe, but I really am saddened by the amount of ads littered through this post. They make it difficult to read your beautifully crafted post…in fact, they slow down the internet too. One ad okay, but 10-15 ads is way too many. Too bad. I wish bloggers would stop doing this and get back to the creative nature that is blogging.
Thanks for the post.
Taylor Kiser says
Hi Rubie,
Thanks for your input. However, we do this as our full-time job, and blogging costs us A LOT of money (internet fees, the insane grocery expenses that we have etc.) These ads help offset all those costs so that we can continue to provide amazing content to you for Free. I hope you understand that. Thanks!
